The Northeastern California Perinatal Outreach Program (NCPOP) is one of 13 Regional Perinatal Programs of California (RPPC) as designated by the California Department of Public Health, Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health (MCAH) Program. NCPOP serves 22 counties from the Fairfield area east to the Nevada border and from Yreka near the Oregon border South to the Stockton/Manteca area. This includes 37 maternity hospitals, bridging public and private sectors. The RPPC’s offer the opportunity for multiple counties, hospitals, clinics, and individual providers to work together, using quality improvement methods to identify perinatal and neonatal clinical practice and administration improvement opportunities.

Programs and activities of NCPOP include:

  • OB/Nursery Managers Group – Managers from the 37 maternity hospitals in the region meet quarterly to network with each other and to identify ways to change clinical practice which will improve outcomes for mothers and babies in our region.
  • Medical Advisory Committee – Neonatologists from the area hospitals in the region meet 2 times per year to network with each other and review evidence-based practice to improve outcomes for the neonatal population.
  • “Perinatal Care Matters” – A quarterly newsletter of the RPPC keeps health care providers in California informed of activities and important information relating to clinical practice issues and legislative updates.

The California Diabetes and Pregnancy Program (CDAPP) “Sweet Success” provides comprehensive health services and promotes improved pregnancy outcomes for high-risk pregnant women with pre-existing diabetes and women who develop diabetes while pregnant; gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). CDAPP is part of the Regional Perinatal Programs of California. There are currently 25 affiliates in this region.

Both programs are funded by a Federal Title V grant and administered by the Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health (MCAH) Program. For more information regarding either of these programs, please visit the California Department of Public Health Department website at www.cdph.ca.gov and click Programs.
