For Our Kidney Transplant Patients
Sutter Transplant and Outpatient Heart Specialty Clinics
Thousands of patients across the country each year receive a new kidney from a relative, friend, or unknown donor. While the best matches tend to come from family members, successful transplants are still possible from non-related living or deceased donors.
Although most patients are on dialysis by the time they are evaluated for transplantation, you may be referred for evaluation before you begin dialysis treatment. A successful kidney transplant eliminates the need for dialysis and can provide an improved quality of life with more freedom and increased health.
While kidney transplants have become more common in the past few years, they remain mysterious to most of us. This website is designed to provide information, answer questions, and maybe raise some questions that you can bring to your next doctor's visit.
