Excellence in medical care is only part of the Sutter Transplant Program's success. Of equal importance is the time spent with each patient and family to ensure patients remain comfortable while waiting for the transplant operation. Physicians, nursing staff, social workers and dieticians answer questions and provide access to information patients and families need to understand each step of the process. The team is also supported by consultants in infectious diseases, critical and pulmonary care and other specialty areas, as well as pharmacy staff and onsite pathologists trained and experienced in the unique issues of transplantation.

Transplantation requires a complex regimen of medications and care procedures even after the patient leaves the hospital. Staff remain available around the clock to guide each patient through the healing process and back to a more active life.
