Getting a good night's sleep is vital to every aspect of life, yet according to the National Sleep Foundation's 2005 survey, 87 percent of men and 67 percent of women report experiencing some sort of sleep disorder at least a few nights a week. Conditions such as sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome and other disorders reduce the amount of beneficial sleep and take their toll on daily activities, increasing the likelihood of mistakes and accidents, including some 100,000 traffic accidents each year. Research is also showing that lack of quality sleep also affects the aging process and contributes to heart disease, diabetes and mental health concerns such as depression.

With the right help, everyone should be able to enjoy restful nights and wide-awake days. At the Sutter Sleep Disorders Centers, located in Sacramento and Roseville, sleep labs are equipped with the latest sleep-testing equipment and sleep medicine specialists offer a full range of treatment options that restore restful sleep to hundreds of adults and children each year. Part of the Sutter Health hospital system, the Sacramento and Roseville centers are staffed by a team of experienced technologists and doctors who specialize in sleep neurology, pulmonology and sleep medicine. Each center offers advanced digital technology and comfortable hotel-like rooms for overnight sleep testing. In addition, the centers offer daytime and in-home testing options. The centers are accredited by the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).

    Patient Stories
    Linda - Achieving Restful Sleep
Linda received a healthy amount of sleep, sometimes up to 12 hours per night. But during the day, she often felt sluggish and always wanting to nap. "My energy level was minimal at best," said Linda. "I hated getting up in the morning and it was hard to get through the day."
