Patients & Consumers
Sutter Institute for Medical Research
At Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento (SMCS), we offer our patients the opportunity to explore new treatments by participating in the latest medical research.
By participating in a research study, patients may improve their own health while helping medical science find better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat conditions, improving medical care for all.
Through our Sutter Institute for Medical Research (SIMR), doctors involved in patient care can take part in approved medical research funded locally, by federal agencies such as the National Institutes for Health (NIH) and Center for Disease Control (CDC) or by pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers. SMCS is the only non-teaching hospital in the region with its own research institute, providing a vital link between scientific advances and patient care.
