When curvature of the spine from side to side (scoliosis) is accompanied by a forward curving of the middle (thoracic) spine, the condition is referred to as kyphoscoliosis. Children with kyphoscoliosis may experience minor discomfort or significant challenges, depending on the extent of the spinal twisting and curvature. Diagnosis and treatment is similar to what doctors use for scoliosis and kyphosis. More information about kyphoscoliosis is available through those write-ups, as well.
