Sutter Center for Integrative Holistic Health

Yoga originated over 5,000 years ago in India, and has many forms. The most common Western form of Yoga practice is “Hatha Yoga,” a system of movement and postures (asanas), used in conjunction with breathing, and often, meditation.

Yoga can be a means of achieving a sense of mental and physical well being, and is also effective in the treatment of a variety of conditions ranging from stress and high blood pressure to tendonitis and muscle strain. Other forms of Yoga taught by Sutter practitioner, Theodora Wilner, are "Raja" Yoga which embraces eight health-enhancing practices and "Jnana" or "Wisdom" Yoga in which the sacred concepts of Yoga are studied.

All Yoga is thought to benefit one's general health, vitality, and peace of mind.
