Each year thousands of adult and pediatric procedures are performed at the Sutter Heart & Vascular Institute. Despite the volume, we ensure that our staff is trained in the latest best-practice techniques and maintains superior outcome statistics. To do this, the data administration department participates in national benchmarking registries. These registries compare the outcome statistics of hospitals around the country to compare the success of various care methods. In addition to participating in existing organizations, the Sutter Heart & Vascular Institute is actively involved in collecting outcome statistics for currently untracked procedures. Eventually this information will provide the details to determine best patient care practices.

Our current effort is to work with other major heart centers around the country to establish a pediatric cath lab database. This information will be invaluable in our effort to maintain the best pediatric cath lab in the Sacramento Sierra region.
