MEDLINE is the National Library of Medicine's searchable database of more than 11 million citations from more than 4,000 medical, dental, health and scientific journals. Launched by the NLM in 1971, MEDLINE contains citations and some abstracts of articles dating back to 1964.
PubMed provides access to bibliographic information which includes Medline as well as additional life science journals.
NLM Gateway
The NLM Gateway allows users to search in multiple retrieval systems at the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM). The current Gateway searches MEDLINE/PubMed, OLDMEDLINE, LOCATORplus, MEDLINEplus, ClinicalTrials.gov, DIRLINE, AIDS Meetings, Health Services Research Meetings, Space Life Sciences Meetings, and HSRProj.

A service of the National Library of Medicine, PubMED provides access to more than 12 million MEDLINE citations back to the mid-1960s and additional life-science journals. PubMed includes links to many sites providing full text articles and other related resources.
