Breast Cancer Support Groups (Roseville)
This support group, facilitated by an oncology social worker and breast cancer survivor, provides an accepting atmosphere to share common experiences, discover effective stress management techniques, heal emotionally, and glean new insights, perspectives and information. It is not necessary to be a patient of Sutter Cancer Center, Roseville to attend this group. Classes meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month, 6-7:30 p.m., and the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month, 10-11:30 a.m. at Sutter Roseville Medical Center. Cancer Support Group for Patients (Sacramento)
Sutter offers two support groups: one exclusively for patients and another for the patient's family members and caregivers. The groups provide a safe atmosphere for patients and families to learn positive ways to cope with the personal consequences of cancer on the patient and those who are close. The atmosphere of each group emphasizes informality, openness, confidentiality, respect and humor. The ongoing groups are open for new members to join at any time and are facilitated by healthcare professionals who specialize in counseling cancer patients/caregivers.
During group sessions, participants:
- Exchange information, provide support, discover and express feelings
- Learn valuable skills including meditation, visualization, deep relaxation, stress management and assertiveness
- Appreciate the effect cancer has on families and learn how to ease everyone's path
- Examine life patterns and sometimes risk changing those that are unhelpful
Cancer Support Group for Patients (Roseville)
The group provides a safe atmosphere for patients to learn positive ways to cope with the personal consequences of cancer. The group provides a safe, confidential atmosphere to share common experiences, discuss treatment choices and resources, and achieve emotional healing. The atmosphere emphasizes informality, openness, confidentiality, respect and humor. The ongoing group is facilitated by the oncology social worker, a cancer survivor, and is open for new members to join at any time.

Lymphedema (Sacramento and Roseville)
Patients provide support, share common experiences and discuss resources for and solutions to the common issue of fluid retention and swelling. There is no charge for attending the support group. The Sacramento group meets the fourth Wednesday of every month. Times for the Roseville group are pending. For more information, call (916) 422-5973 (Sacramento) or (916) 797-7565 (Roseville).
Lymphoma Support Group (Roseville)
Created by lymphoma patients and survivors to help one another through treatment and healing, the group has been active for more than 10 years. Patients, family and friends come together monthly to provide positive support in a caring and accepting forum. The group is held on the last Tuesday of the month at Sutter Roseville Medical Center. Prostate Cancer Support Group (Roseville)
This group is open to men and women affected by prostate cancer. It offers a safe, confidential place to discuss your cancer experience, treatment choices, resources, and family/partner concerns. A registered nurse facilitates and addresses medical concerns. The group meets the second Thursday of every month from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. For more information, call 781-1546.
Save Ourselves/Y-Me Breast Cancer Support Group (Sacramento)
Sponsored by the Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization, the support group helps ensure that no one faces breast cancer alone by providing information, empowerment and peer support to breast cancer survivors. For more information, please call (530) 886-8888.
