    Ultrasound
    Diagnostic Procedures

As a first or follow-up step to a mammogram or other diagnostic test, patients may undergo an ultrasound test. The test uses high-frequency sound waves that reflect back to create images of organs, blood vessels, and tissue.

Ultrasound imaging using the latest equipment is available at all Sutter facilities throughout the region.

For more information on ultrasound, see the ultrasound topic in our Health Information sections. Additional information is available from the National Cancer Institute (www.cancer.gov), including a special section on cancer imaging at imaging.cancer.gov.
